5 Things Your Car Should Say About You

A car speaks volumes about its owner.

A top Mercedes talks of a high powered and driven individual. A boy racer cover in stickers suggests learning difficulties.

You don’t have to own the most expensive car on the road, but here are five qualities your ride should say about you.

Style

A great looking car is like a beautiful woman. They turn heads and make every guy in the room (or in this case on the road) jealous with envy.

But it all comes to nothing if the man behind the wheel is unshaven and doesn’t use an iron, let alone own one.

Looking after your appearances doesn’t take much effort and the results are huge. Not only do you feel more confident as a person, everyone around you will respect you for it.

Power

A powerful car is going places, and so is the owner.

There is something incredibly exciting about powerful cars. Maybe it’s the roar of the engine, or the knowledge that putting your foot down will leave those around you in the dust.

Being powerful, and being around powerful people, is a thrilling experience. Powerful people are normally confident risk takers and prove to be very interesting company.

Fill your life with proactive people who are constantly empowering themselves and you’ll find that, as a person, you will grow considerably. They will challenge and test you, and you’ll be all the better for it.

Integrity

The most important quality of any car is the knowledge that every time you turn the key, the engine will start.

There is nothing more stressful or irritating then an unreliable car, the same goes for people.

If people know you will deliver on your promises time and time again they will love you for it.

Having integrity is important in all walks of life, from your career to your relationships and down to the knowledge that at the end of the day you can rely on yourself.

Confidence

Some cars just ooze confidence.

They’re powerful, stylish, over deliver every time and they dam well know it.

Being confident is such an admired trait, because it is so rare. Confident people are 1 in a 100 and they often provoke jealosy and admiration because they have something that everyone wants, yet is in such short supply.

No matter your job or income, if you know that you’re a good a person who tries to better themselves on a regular basis, you have every right to be confident.

Ambition

The mark of every great car, and person, is ambition.

Both are willing to take risks, try something new and push themselves to the limit.

They are often goal orientated, driven and know what they want from life.

This doesn’t necessarily mean being the fastest car on the road or climbing the corporate ladder. It means you are willing to push yourself, be constantly learning and stick to your beliefs.

In many ways without ambition, all of the other qualities listed here, will suffer.

2011 Mercedes-Benz C63 gets a facelift Geneva Motor Show

Mercedes-Benz has released their face lifted C63 AMG to the public at the Geneva Motor Show. The facelift comes with an aggressive new front fascia, an aluminum hood, a single-bar grille and new headlights with LED indicators.

Other highlights include a modified rear bumper with black diffuser insert, revised tail lights, and restyled 18 inch alloy wheels. In the interior you’ll find a new dashboard, an upgraded instrument cluster, dark aluminum trim and piano black accents. As a nice extra all Mercedes C63 AMG models are outfitted with an improved suspension that features an anti-roll bar and revised spring rates.

Most important is the power source, which will be the naturally-aspirated 6.3 liter V8 with 451hp and 600Nm of torque. The power is derived to the road via a seven-speed SpeedShift MCT transmission which enables the sedan to sprint from standstill to 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds. The top speed is 155mph governed. 2011 Audi A6 and a little History about the A6

The Audi A6 is a luxrury sedan offered in the U.S. since the mid 90's. Before it adopted its current name, the car was named Audi 500 and also was known as the Audi 100 and Audi 200 for a short time. Though it's typically front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive is available, the Audi A6 competes against other rear wheel drive cars like the Mercedes-Benz E Class, the BMW 5 Series, the Infinit M37 and M56, and the Cadillac STS.

The first American market A6 arrived in showrooms as a 1995 model. In that generation, the A6 name merely moved to the existing Audi 100 chassis with a light facelift. A more distinct new A6 arrived in 1998, both in sedan and wagon forms. Again offered with a choice of four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines, the A6 also had front-wheel drive, available quattro all-wheel drive, and a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, along with new features like stability control, side airbags and a navigation system.

Top 3 Diesel Sedans under $5000

#1. 1984-1989 Mercedes-Benz 300sd
This car is a Mercedes period. It is a bit old, but still looks good, got a little bit of power especially from the turbo. It's a five cylinder, and will last you a lifetime. Wish they made these in a 5 speed manual at least. Quality interior, quality engine just the way Mercedes was meant to be. Ranging from $1500-$3500. This car has been tested by Zsports Cars at 26 mpg avg, 32 on thehwy and 24 in the city.

#2. 1980-1983 Mercedes-Benz 240D
This car is a bad example of Mercedes luxury, it is pretty basic. But looking at other cars in this era in the same class, this one is 5 times better then the rest. The 240D has the 4 cylinder diesel engine which is famous for being name "the million mile engine". Only 68hp from production, so after about thirty only about 57hp left. Pretty slow, we tested the 4 speed manual. Nice interior, looks best in black. The black interior never gets old. The price for this car ranges from $1000 to $2000 at the most. This car has been tested by Zsports Cars at 28 mpg avg, 36 on the highway and 28 in the city.

#3. 1998 Jetta TDI
This car has bad styling, bad interior quality, bad paint job, considered it is a German car. The only thing that shows it's a German Car is the engine. Reported to get 40 mpg, but we haven't tested it yet so can't guarantee it. But based on the 300sd and 240d reports from other people saying they get 40 mpg, we can say that they are all a little bit over exagerating. It has an inline-4 engine and comes in a 4 speed automatic, or 5 speed manual. This car has not been tested by Zsports Cars, only word of mouth.

Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss - 'Open Motoring' Gains a New Meaning

The Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss, the final hurrah for the fabled SLR line, has a production date of June 2009 and is the culmination of everything SLR. The SLR Stirling Moss has a radical design, with no roof or even proper windshield. It is as if Mercedes-Benz is flaunting the fact that all SLR drivers own a couple more cars, and the retro race-roadster design is the only thing they could respectfully apply legendary British race car driver Stirling Moss's name to.

Stirling Moss--the car--is styled unlike anything else on the market, even from boutique car builders. It looks every bit the modern interpretation of the classic race speedster Mercedes is going for, and while the modern SLR McLaren heritage is clear, this new edition is wholly different. While the new open supercar Mercedes was again developed in conjunction with McLaren, this one drops the McClaren name in favor of honoring the most famous of Benz pilots.

Lorinser Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL - Rocket from the 70's

By 1975 the USA had long mothballed its moon vehicles, as with the Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, W116 series the Germans unveiled a road rocket, whose thrust felt like it could easily rival a Saturn V. The constructors borrowed the engine from the basis of the powerful State limousine 600(the classic Maybach), which was equal to a Rolls-Royce in fame and luxury. From a gigantic 6,834 cubic centimetre capacity it wrung out 550Nm. At its time this was an absolute record for a car and in comparison still has enough, to achieve the decisive trump against a current S500. These are sports values which many people would hardly expect behind the baroque" facade, even though the price of 70,000 Marks for the vehicle at that time represented the value of a commonhold flat. For everyone who didnt really want to restrain the concentrated power, Sportservice Lorinser even then offered an extra-portion of overtaking prestige. The Swabian tuner currently has a corresponding vehicle with modern tuning on show in t he Classic Center at its car dealership in Waiblingen.

While the factory version of the W116 was a typical 70s car, thanks to the optical package from Lorinser it was able to make the jump to the modern era. The slim chrome bumpers, making the bodywork seem slim and flat, have been replaced by the technicians with wide, square plastic aprons at the front and rear. It almost seems as if the front spoiler with the racing grill insert and the integrated fog lights served as a prototype for Mercedes in the design of the next S-Class with the factory code W126. On the sides massive side sills form an arch to the rear, which has also gained in volume due to a new rear apron and on its left side boasts a massive double exhaust pipe from Lorinser. With a firm step on the accelerator you can hear the snorting of 286 horses (210kw), which manage the gallop from 0-100 km/h(0-62 mph_ in 7.4 seconds in a three gear automatic. Pretty impressive for an old gal like this. Unfortunately the tires, which are thin for modern dimensions in 205/55 VR 16 format, limit the traction a little. On the other hand the multi-spoke alloys are a real sight for sore eyes: They come from BBS, as in the 70s Lorinser did not offer its own wheels. The eight-cylinder, which like a real sports car has dry sump lubrication, permits a maximum of 225km/h. Even then the hydro-pneumatic suspension system of the S-Class, which is based on a French patent, offers a harmonic ride. For its age the Mercedes takes fast corners extremely fast and can be controlled with the maximum-grip Lorinser steering wheel surprisingly nimbly. It is therefore a car which doesn't just invite cautious cruising.

Anyone who has now acquired a taste, cannot just wonder at the 450 SEL 6.9 on display, but can also purchase it.

Could you paint a Car-A-Day?

The collective artistic skill of Zsports Cars would hardly equal the pinky toe of Picasso, which is why we are duly impressed with Rob Ijbema's website called Car-A-Day. Rob began the site about a year and a half ago painting and publishing one work per day of cars in various forms of motorsport. He continued at this pace for over a year, but has since slowed down a bit, but the sheer size of his catalogue is still staggeringly impressive. As you can see in our gallery of favorites, Rob has pretty much all of the well known brands of motorsports covered with paintings of race cars from LeMans, Formula One, the WRC, DTM, vintage racers and even NASCAR! His style might best be described as Impressionist with, as he explains, a focus on movement and atmosphere rather than detail, which would take much longer to reproduce on canvas. Most of Rob's work could go for hundreds if not thousands of dollars in a gallery somewhere, but for him they're all in a single day's work. Each one is for sale, just email Rob for a price. Check out our faves in the gallery below, and be sure to visit Car-A-Day yourself and peruse his archives, as well as subscribe to Rob's RSS feed for updates on when he publishes a new painting.

Mercedes-Benz Reveals SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S

As the era of the Mercedes McLaren SLR winds down to its conclusion sometime in 2009, Mercedes-Benz is releasing what may be the ultimate example of the breed. The SLR 722 S Roadster picks up where the 722 coupe left off dropping the 650-hp supercharged 5.5L V8 into the open top body shell. With a top speed of 220.6 mph, this may be the fastest open top production car ever built. And unlike the first generation Dodge Viper, Mercedes has devised a soft top that can withstand sustained 200 mph+ top speeds. Mercedes has tapped into McLaren's F1 experience to create the fully carbon-fiber body that can provide the structural integrity needed at those speeds. The semi-automatic top just needs to be unlatched from the windshield header manually before the rest of the process is handled by the electrical actuators. The vehicle dynamics are also aided by dropping the suspension by 10 mm at each end of the car and recalibrating the spring and damper rates. Only 150 examples of the 722 S Roadster will be made available starting Jan. 1 2009.

Tuned Mercedes-Benz CLK

Wow, this is one the best tuned Mercedes-Benz CLK's I have ever seen, this guy should tune car's for a living, or sell his work to AMG or Brabus or something. He has a custom made Black-Series bodykit.

Great looking exhaust, lowered 55mm in the front and 45 in the rear, and tweaked his ECU with Oettilnghause ECU Performance Kit.

Corvette C6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class Caught in Action

A previous generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and a Corvette C6 Convertible left their cultural differences aside and got a bit too intimate in Southern California. There’s no information concerning the ‘accident’ other than it occurred at the corner of Skyline and Foothill roads in Ventura County on September 5 and that no one was hurt. Luckily, both parties involved in this embarrassing scene were wearing rubbers so don’t expect to see any weird looking junior Corcedes or Mervettes running around in California any time soon

2011 AMG Gullwing

Mercedes-Benz and its performance divisions AMG and HWA are working on a host of new sports cars with a number of prototypes already spotted testing at both the Nurburgring and America’s Death Valley. Yesterday, spy images of a new Black Series version of the facelifted SL surfaced and last month images of another prototype dubbed the SLC turned up. We now have new renderings of a third Mercedes sports car said to be in development, a gull-winged coupe based on a shortened SL platform described as a spiritual successor to the original 300 SL.

Rumored to hit the streets in 2010 or 2011, the new car will feature an upgraded version of AMG’s hand-built 6.2L V8 with power levels in excess of 600hp. The car is being developed internally by Mercedes and AMG engineers and production numbers are expected to range between 3,000 and 5,000 units per year.

Although the gull-wing doors draw obvious styling cues from the original model from the 1950s, the new car won’t be shamelessly retro. As these renderings suggest, the car will feature a sleek, aerodynamic body, circular headlights and SLR-style side vents.
